Doomed

Nintendo Police were a Hornsby-based hardcore band that formed in 1996 and broke up in 2000 (but have reformed for the odd reunion show since). Inspired by bands such as Bad Brains, MDC, DRI, Beastie Boys, and also citing 'skateboarding in shopping centre carparks' as one of their major influences, Nintendo Police were very much a documentation of suburban angst and other teenage experiences.

BAND MEMBERS
Dave - vocals
Tim - guitar
Ari - drums
Gabrielle - bass

Dave, Tim and Ari all now play in Baltic. Dave previously also played in Headless Horsemen, Tim has also played in Guts and Dot Dot Dot, and Ari has been in Worse Off and Arkanoid.

They also appeared on the 'Violent Hornsby Straight-Edge' comp. Their album 'I Suggest We Don't Fuck Around' was released by Set Fire To My Home records.

One of the greatest songs ever I think, and I just found this animated film clip of it that I hadn't seen before (yeah, yeah - I'm outta the loop), which features Russell Crowe swagging about dressed in a gladiator-styled chestplate. Here's the lyrics...

Don't get a million bucks just for getting out of bed
Don't get a million fucks when I punch folks in the head
And even if we never have a Billboard top ten hit
At least we know that Russell Crowe's Band's a fucking pile of shit
At least we know that Russell Crowe's Band's a fucking pile of shit

I don't get olympic athletes to my barbecues
I don't get extorsion threats from the Coffs Harbour Saloon
And even though our paychecks may as well be counterfiet
At least we know that Russell Crowe's Band's a fucking pile of shit
At least we know that Russell Crowe's Band's a fucking pile of shit

...

Russell Crowe was apparently undettered by the song. He's said in a few interviews that he's never heard of it and that his music is it's own reward. Well - I tell you what, his music WOULD want to be it's own reward, because it's certainly not a rewarding experience for anyone else to listen to it.

Go Frenzal, go.

Very Much Robot!

Very Much Robotic

Very Much Robot songs - click to hear, check out the song 'Broken Romeo' in particular.

Very Much Robot! are a Sydney-based three-piece who play dancey/spazzy punk... think Pure Evil, The (International) Noise Conspiracy, My Disco, Die Die Die, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Sleater-Kinney, Joy Division, Sonic Youth, Interpol, etc, etc.

BAND MEMBERS
Adam - vocals, bass
Matt - guitar, vocals
Martin - drums, vocals

Adam and Matt both previously played together in the band 'Blackout Orchestra', where Adam just did vocals. They formed Very Much Robot roughly around 10 months ago (late 2005).

They haven't released anything yet, and I'm not sure if they have any current plans to. I saw them the other week in Marrickville and they were fucking killer though, so they're worth keeping an eye out for.

Bewilderbomb

September 26th 2006 07:14
This is an interview with Brisbane punk band Bewilderbomb, who have recently decided to call it a day after many years of keeping it real. STEVE is the vocalist, HEAD is the drummer, and KRAM is the guitarist, and this interview was conducted earlier this year (so just ignore anything that's irrelevant).

10 Great Classic Aussie Rock Songs

10 GREAT CLASSIC AUSSIE ROCK SONGS

I have no taste when it comes to music. If something sounds good, I consider it good. I don't really care if it's Angry Anderson or the Wiggles. This is because I am an amazingly rad dude. So here are some of my favourite rock songs

Wolfmother

September 15th 2006 05:34

There's a single word out there in the Australian rock wilderness that polarises music fans like no other... that word is 'Wolfmother'. Mention this word to a group of music-inclined people and don't be surprised if you get looks of disgust, screwed up faces, people spitting on the ground at your feet, blood feuds and curses being invoked, bodily harm, and a wide manner of other negative reactions

Rehearse in a studio you bums

This is a cheesy 'How to' guide I was asked to write once for a zine a few years ago, I thought some of it might be applicable for any young 'uns in bands who are reading this

New Justice Team flyers

September 8th 2006 09:50
These are some flyers from shows that The New Justice Team (a band I play drums in) have played at. We didn't have anything to do with the making of these flyers, other people made them. I have heaps more but these are probably my favourites.

This was a flyer for our first show, 2004.
