New Justice Team flyers

September 8th 2006 09:50
These are some flyers from shows that The New Justice Team (a band I play drums in) have played at. We didn't have anything to do with the making of these flyers, other people made them. I have heaps more but these are probably my favourites.

This was a flyer for our first show, 2004.

Our first shows in Brisbane, 2005

All ages show that got cancelled, 2006. Nice use of cover from the film 'Straw Dogs'.

Flyers and Flyers again

July 28th 2006 10:16
The Shirkers
A flyer for a Shirkers show. Not much is really going on in this flyer, but I'm sure it still did the job. The Shirkers were a late 90s/early 00s old school-ish punk band, members have gone on to play in the bands Stereo City, Brand Disloyalty, Staying at Home and ROFL, amongst others.

Meanderthal
Meanderthal were an indie/rock-punk band from Sydney, also late 90s. Some of the artwork on this flyer looks like Glen Smith's (of Lawnsmell fame) but I'm not really sure if it is or not.

Hardcore
Hardcore Superbowl... I'm not really sure if this was affiliated with the Hardcore BBQ of the year before, or the subsequent Hardcore super-extravaganza shows put on by Resist in recent years, but this is pretty much the equivelent of said Resist Records-sponsored Hardcore shows (the most recent of which took place last weekend). Strangely, the Hardcore shows back then mostly had hardcore punk bands playing them, rather than the terrible metal bands they seem to attract now.

Nancy Vandal
This was a weird show... it took place at the PCYC in Penrith and featured local metal legends Cryogenic and popular punk act Nancy Vandal as the headliners. Hassle Brigade were the 'big local support', and Speckled Foam and Skeptic scored the opening slots by winning a local band comp. There's something about band-comp related shows that just seem sort of sleazy. I dunno.

Flyers #3

July 5th 2006 12:15
Some more old flyers from the archive...

Trashed
Trashed '97. I'm not really sure if there was a Trashed '96 or a Trashed '98, but all these festivals seem to have to put the year next to their name as if they think they're gonna be around forever. Most of the bands on this flyer (and all the other flyers too) are gone now.

Tartan Heart
Tartan Heart was the name for a collection of ska-orientated shows that were put on (mostly) at the Green Square. Each show usually featured three bands and extensive ska-related DJ sets between. Bands that played include: The Lyrical Madmen, Last Hemeroids, The Kirbys, SKAM, Backy Skank, Bedlam Beggers and a whole bunch of others.

Three Found Dead
A flyer for a split record from Sydney hardcore band Three Found Dead and Elbow Deep. Nuff said.

Wonky Concoctions
Wonky Concoctions were what it was all about back in 1997, 98 and 99. They were Blue Mountains/Penrith based All-Ages shows put on by two guys named Jae and Craig. They usually had a few local bands plus some bigger acts playing... Hassle Brigade, Offset, Clobassi, Gilgamesh, Beaverloop, Dogbouy, Game Over, Cretin's Puddle, Toe to Toe, Mindsnare, Mid Youth Crisis and Peabody all played Wonky Concoctions shows.

More Flyers

June 12th 2006 11:14
Thought I'd post up some more flyers... pretty much all punk shows from Sydney.

Blacktown
Blacktown All-Ages show (probably from around 2001)
Unpaid Debt are probably the only band on this flyer still going today. I think most of the other bands leaned more towards metal... there were a lot of metal bands in Western Sydney around this time. There probably still are... Cryogenic are probably the biggest metal band to ever come out of the Greater West, virtually every other metal band went nowhere. And they probably still do. You Blabbed About Mars were a weird/prog rock style band made up on older dudes, they played a lot of shows but I never really remember them being all that popular with 'the kids

Flyers

May 26th 2006 10:24
I've just been going through my archive of flyers and thought I'd chuck some up for fun. Over the years I've collected quite a few flyers, mostly Sydney, Western Sydney and Blue Mountains ones from 1998 through to now. Unfortunately I threw a lot out when I last moved but I managed to save a few on my computer by scanning them. I used to have a whole wall plastered in them but a lot of those are gone.

Rocks
Rocks flyer, from their last reunion show (they do reunion shows every few years, this one is from 2004 or thereabouts)
