Grinspoon songs - click to hear
Grinspoon rock. At first I dug them cause they had rad rockin' out bits but also punked it up a bit too. After a few years of that they seemed to change their sound towards a more mainstream-rock kind of thing, but it was still good and 100% Grinspoon, so I still dig them now.
Hailing from northern NSW (Lismore), they formed their band in 1995 in order to enter the Triple J Unearthed competition (a yearly competition that focused on finding musical talent in underrepresented rural areas). Grinspoon won with their song 'Sickfest' and they're probably one of the best examples of an Unearthed band making good on their Unearthing.
MEMBERS
Phil Jamieson - vocals, and occasionally guitar
Pat Davern - guitar
Joe Hansen - bass
Kristian Hopes - drums
Grinners have pretty much played every festival in Australia you could think of. In 1998 they toured America, and have relentlessly toured Australia in their 11 years. Earlier this year they played the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games, and last year they won their first ARIA for 'Rock Album of the Year' - they had been previously nominated nine times.
Phil Jamieson has also recently started a side project called 'Lost Gospel', where he plays guitar and sings.

Love hearing about Grinspoon. Joe was a friend of The Ex from back in the mid 90's. Byron Bay Festival years. Not trying to "name drop".
Best Grinspoon moment - Phil totally trashed at Wentworth Valley telling the crowd not to go to a certain tattoo artist in Sydney as they #$&*^^ up his "VB" tat.

I don't get to hear anything these days aside from The Wiggles, They Might Be Giants and The Beastie Boys who are suprisingly child friendly. I would have loved to have seen The Buzzcocks but the closest I could get was the Shrek 2 Soundtrack...
