Kampei are a Sydney-based pop/punk/ska band who love to mix it up with the best of them. I don’t know why I wrote that, it doesn’t even really mean anything. Sorry.
Seriously though, Kampei are a really fun band who play regularly at various pubs across Sydney. They play an energetic 90s-style of pop-punk and use a little jazz and funk and reggae to keep things interesting. They formed in late 2004 and played their first show in early 2005 and have also played in Katoomba and Newcastle. A tour of Melbourne is currently on the cards for August 2006.
So far Kampei have released one EP…

...and have featured on a couple of compilations. They have plans to release an album towards the end of 2006.

Kirsten – vocals
Rhys – Guitar, vocals
Hickey – Bass, vocals
Graeme – Drums
Vocalist Kirsten previously played drums in Western Sydney alternative rock band Pollystigma and Rhys and Hickey were previously in a band called Straight Edge Junkies.
