More Flyers

June 12th 2006 11:14
Thought I'd post up some more flyers... pretty much all punk shows from Sydney.

Blacktown
Blacktown All-Ages show (probably from around 2001)
Unpaid Debt are probably the only band on this flyer still going today. I think most of the other bands leaned more towards metal... there were a lot of metal bands in Western Sydney around this time. There probably still are... Cryogenic are probably the biggest metal band to ever come out of the Greater West, virtually every other metal band went nowhere. And they probably still do. You Blabbed About Mars were a weird/prog rock style band made up on older dudes, they played a lot of shows but I never really remember them being all that popular with 'the kids'.

Diesel Boy
An All-Ages show at the Iron Duke (2001)

Burnout
Club Burnout Show (2001 or 2002)

Club Burnout was put on by Brad Moore (of bombshellzine.com) and Ryan (Stereo City guitarist, then of the band The Mad Dash). They were also initially co-put on with a girl named Olivia (I think? Memory is hazy here... she was Unpaid Debt's first manager) but she bowed out pretty early on. The shows took place at the Great Western Bar in Penrith (now called The Embassy) every second Saturday or so. It lasted for a couple of months and got fairly good turnouts most of the time. As is the trend with All-Ages venues though, it was too good to last and it all fell apart eventually due to noise complaints from various nearby shops. Bands that played there included The Porkers, H-Block 101 and Irrelevant.

Frontside
Some Frontside shows - 1999 or 2000

Game Over
All-Ages show
You don't really see All-Age shows in places like Petersham anymore, which is a shame. Speckled Foam and Ballpark were both from out West (Penrith-ish) and I'd place this flyer arond 1998 or 1999. I don't know anything about 37 Head, they were probably a band that local to the Petersham area or close enough. Game Over were from Melbourne and were fairly popular (see Game Over entry in blog).

Yep. And for some reason Dogbouy comes to mind. They may have been the secret band. Memory isn't as good as it used to be. Maybe Jabba played for Dogbouy.

maybe. I think Jabba also played in Insurge or something. Someone told me he was cousins with Nat from Frenzal Rhomb/Quadbox too.
