Repressed Records

Repressed Records is a radical cool-dudes music store in Penrith (Western Sydney!) It's the best record store in all of Penrith I reckon... the guy who runs it, Chris, is a cool dude who just loves music, and his staff (Ravi and Nick) are cool dudes who love music too.
Repressed Records started out as a Penrith branch of a Parramatta record store, Beatdisc. For a while Repressed Records was called Beatdisc but I think Chris bought out the name or some shit and renamed it accordingly and made it his own. They started out just stocking second hand CDs but eventually started ordering in new stock too - and the prices stayed low! They specialise in a lot of metal (thrash, doom, industrial, black metal, etc) and also stock some cool punk and hardcore stuff and hip-hop, and they'll keep their eyes out for pretty much anything you're after. They also carry a bit of vinyl if you're a vinyl enthusiast, including some ultra-cheap $1 vinyl (of crazy stuff like Culture Club and The Cockroaches... I got Men At Work and Hoodoo Gurus on record there for a dollar each!)
If you're in a local band in the Penrith they'll stock your stuff for you too. Recently, they've started having monthly instores... Terror Beyond Grace played in there for the first one, followed by Anarchoi and Chaz. H. Scally. The Undersided played there for the May instore, and the most recent one was The New Justice Team and The Bernie Lomax Five. It's a great atmosphere to see a band play in a record store... it's not too big, it's intimate and fun (and free!), and the sound bouncing off all the records and CDs is surprisingly good.
Anyway, if you're ever out Penrith way I reccomend you check out this store. It can be found on Station Street, just near Spotlight (opposite the Cash Converters Buying-entry). Say yes to independent record stores before they all get replaced by Sanity and JB HiFi.
