Rex Banner are a Sydney melodic hardcore band (think Once Inch Punch/Mid Youth Crisis, Strike Anywhere, Good Riddance, Bigwig, Propagandhi, all that sort of thing). They started out a couple of years ago but only really got their act together in early 2006 (this year!).
They went through a couple of Simpsons-related names (including Furious George) before settling on Rex Banner. They had a different guitarist, Josh, to begin with but he left before the band started playing shows as he didn't really dig the direction the sound was heading in. They also had a different singer but they kicked him out too because he sucked. As soon as Adam (previously from the band Game Over) joined the band earlier this year things seemed to kick into overdrive and the band has played a whole bunch of shows all around Sydney since.
