Screaming Jets

You may cringe, but I actually like the Screaming Jets. Who here in Australia has never EVER sung along to a Screaming Jets song? C'mon, not even when you were a youngster? Not even when you were drunk?!
The Jets (as they are sometimes affectionally known) were probably the last great Australian pub rock band. They formed in 1989 in Newcastle out of the remnants of a band called Aspect. They won a Triple J Battle of the Bands comp fairly early on, which led to their debut EP 'Scorching Adventures of the Screaming Jets'. In 1990 they signed to rooArt, who would go on to release most of the Jets' stuff for the 1990s, including all their biggest hit singles. They've had a fairly extensive discography in their 18 years of sporadic rocking, here's my attempt at recounting it...
'Scorching Adventures of the Screaming Jets' (1990) EP
'All for One' (1991) ALBUM
'Stop the World' (1991) SINGLE
'Better' (1991) SINGLE
'Fat Rich Cunts' (1991) SINGLE
'Shine On' (1992) SINGLE
'Think' (1992) SINGLE
'Living in England' (1992) EP
'Tear of Thought' (1992) ALBUM
'Shivers' (1993) SINGLE
'Here I Go' (1993) SINGLE
'Helping Hand' (1993) SINGLE
'Tunnel' (1994) SINGLE
Self-titled (1994) ALBUM
'Friend of Mine' (1995) SINGLE
'Sacrifice' (1996) SINGLE
'World Gone Crazy' (1997) ALBUM
'Elvis (I Remember)' (1997) SINGLE
'Eve of Destruction' (1997) SINGLE
'October Grey' (1997) SINGLE
'Cunnamulla Fellar'(1998) SINGLE w/ Ed Kuepper,
- from Slim Dusty tribute album 'Not So Dusty'
'Hits and Pieces' (1999) COMPILATION ALBUM
'Individuality' (1999) SINGLE
'Scam' (2000) ALBUM
'Higher with You' (2000) SINGLE
'I Need Your Love' (2000) SINGLE
'Shine Over Me' (2000) SINGLE
'Live Forever' (2002) DOUBLE COMPILATION ALBUM
'Heart of the Matter' (2004) EP
After they released their first album and EP they relocated to England to try and build up a fanbase there - hence the EP 'Living in England'. Eventually they came home, had a few more hits and sort of fizzled out for a while. They've never been completely dead though and have done tours every now and then, as well as releasing the odd single or album.
The Jets have undergone a few line up changes over the last two decades, mainly in the way of drummers. Their remaining core members who have been with the group since the start are Dave Gleeson (vocals), Grant Warmsley (guitar) and Paul Woseen (bass).
Most recently they have released two DVDs... a video clips compilation companion to their 'Hits and Pieces' CD in 2004 and a live DVD of a show in Penrith called 'Rock On' (2005).
You can hear and watch some Screaming Jets stuff at their website here - The Screaming Jets
There's a bio up there too but the bio is a bit laughable as it seems to want to compare Screaming Jets to the Silverchair and to talk about how much better the Jets are, which is kinda missing the point a little I think.
