Steppin Razor
June 10th 2006 02:01
Steppin Razor are a Sydney-based ska/punk band in the vein of Rancid, The Clash, H-Block 101, etc, etc. They formed in late 2004 and have pretty much filled Sydney's ska-punk niche... coming at a time when bands of this nature are either few and far between or of a lesser quality. Their original drummer Adam has been recently replaced by Tome. They follow in the footsteps of much-loved defunct Sydney ska-punk band 'The Last Hemeroids', of which Sax player Mark was a former member.

Tell Us What You're Gonna Do - from their self-titled EP.
These Pictures - from the 'These Pictures' EP.
The members are...
Andy - Vocals, Guitar
Dave - Guitar, vocals
Luke - Bass, vocals
Mark - Sax
Tome - Drums
They're all bandwhores, check out where they've been...
* Andy and Dave started out in 'The Skam' (of which the song 'Indiana' can be heard here - The Skam at MP3.com.au) and also currently play in trad-ska/reggae band 'The Signals' (Dave on guitar, Andy on keyboards). Andy also occasionally played keyboards in garage/rockabilly band 'Slant 6' and cover-band 'The Sleazybeats'.
* Mark previously played Sax in 'The Last Hemeroids', back in the late 90s. After this he played in the more tradtional-styled ska cover-band 'Riot City', and from there moved on to 'The Optionals' (a more rock-orientated band), whom he parted ways with in 2004.
* Bassist Luke also currently plays in hardcore band 'The New Justice Team' and previously played in a Lakemba-based hip-hop group 'It's All Relativf'.
* Original drummer Adam previously played in 'Velvet Alley'.
They've played pretty relentlessly since forming. They did four tours of QLD last year, and two of Melbourne, and also managed to visit Ulladulla, Newcastle, Wollongong and Canberra. They took a break for about four or so months earlier this year whilst Andy went overseas, but now they're back with a new drummer and already have interstate tours ready to go.
