The Sharp

I'm a little late on The Sharp bandwagon, I only picked up their greatest hits compilation just last week (after months of searching) and am truly appreciating their greatness for the first time now. The band broke up well over ten years ago, so there's very little in the way of MP3s and the like to be found on the internet, however there is this, if you want to hear them...
The Sharp - Where Am I Now? - video of their last live TV performance. Follow link to watch at YouTube.
The Sharp were a three-piece from Melbourne probably best remembered for wearing black skivvies (immortalised by The Late Show in a parody film clip that can be seen on 'The Late Show Champagne Comedy' DVD) and having a double-bass. They were...
MEMBERS
Charlie Rooke - Vocals, Guitar
Allan Catlin - Vocals, Double-Bass
Piet Collins - Drums, vocals
The band formed in 1991 after Charlie's previous band '59 Sharp' (a cover band) broke up. They released a few singles in 1992 and soon gathered a lot of media attention and a fairly impressive fanbase due to their energetic live-shows, unique look and catchy songs. They supported the Spin Doctors on a national tour of Australia, played Triple J's Live at The Wireless twice (in 1992 and 1993 respectively) and played the Falls Festival in 1994. They embarked on an international tour in 1994, playing in Germany, New York and London. On their return to Australia drummer Piet decided he'd had enough and quit the band. He was briefly replaced by Adam May but the band decided to call it a day shortly afterwards.

Charlie went on to play in Earlobe, who have at least released one single and one album. Allan played went on to play in Infinity and Piet went on to play in Mullet.
The band reformed in 2000, intending to tour Australia and release a new single but I think the plans pretty much fell through. Instead, they just played one show at the HiFi Bar in Melbourne.
