Thematics is a weekly show on the community radio station 2RRR FM in Sydney. Each show is based on a particular theme... like, one show might be all songs about death, or all songs that are covers, or a special that focuses on a particular genre (like Australian grunge for example). Each show goes for 2 hours and a wide variety of music often gets played - from hardcore, grindcore, punk, ska and reggae to pop, gabber, doom, ambient, jazz and even spoken word!
The shows go to air on Saturday nights from 11 pm to 1 am on the frequency of 88.5. Sometimes taped shows get shared on soulseek (username: flying fish) but it's probably best to just listen to the show. It's hoped that the show will be streamed online by 2007 sometime.
The show is hosted by 'DJ Sicko' (Micko, the drummer from Sydney thrash/hardcore band ROFL) and he gets all sorts of guest co-presenters in to keep things fresh - often someone who can shed light on a specific genre or subject and has an extensive range of rare and hard-to-find music that would otherwise never find it's way onto radio today.
