Wolfmother

September 15th 2006 05:34

There's a single word out there in the Australian rock wilderness that polarises music fans like no other... that word is 'Wolfmother'. Mention this word to a group of music-inclined people and don't be surprised if you get looks of disgust, screwed up faces, people spitting on the ground at your feet, blood feuds and curses being invoked, bodily harm, and a wide manner of other negative reactions.

I like Wolfmother!

However, I've learnt that there is no point in trying to defend them to their haters... my cred points dribble out of my sleeves before their very eyes the moment I mention my love for the band's songs and the way they rock out.

WOLFMOTHER SONGS
Wolfmother - myspace

Wolfmother are... Andrew Stockdale, Chris Ross, Myles Heskett. Apparently these guys have been jamming with each other for years now and only got around to putting something out in 2004. I think it shows, a lot of work has gone into their music.

Oh, and I love the fact that Wolfmother are famous in other countries. Australia gets to export very few items of cultural significance to the world at large, and it just feels good to occasionally have something that other people like. Call me shallow and pathetic in my inclination for non-Australian vindication... I just can't help it!

Here's a discography for da Mother...

Wolfmother (2004) EP
Mind's Eye (2005) SINGLE
Wolfmother (2005) ALBUM

...They ARE a good band....put them in the 70's and everyone would love them, its not their fault that they don't want to conform the modern msuic's lower standards.People who criticize them should try playing their songs completely...

There are people out there who actually hate them? I understand if Wolfmother's music is not their cup of tea, but to actually have feelings generally reserved for Peter Andre or Lee Harding? I love Wolfmother. These guys actually rock, not like those whiny faux-punk teenage-angst acts.

I know heaps of people who hate them, then again these are mostly people who are generally not into that style of music in the first place.

My mum likes them.... and thats saying something.
She's says they remind her of Led Zepplin and loves them.
They are really good, and need to get a new album out now.
